Welcome to MotorCity Boat Werks, my boat building and boat restoration workshop. I call it The Werks. This is no ordinary boat building work shop. It’s more like a boat restoration studio.
The primary boat restoration project inside the Boat Werks is a 1986 Albin 27 Family Cruiser. This pocket trawler will undergo a complete restoration and trawler refit from a bare hull. The trawler interior has been modified to accommodate a stand alone shower and toilet inside a 20 square -foot bathroom. It will have all new systems: electrical, plumbing, navigation, and a new diesel engine. The goal is to create a custom trailerable pocket trawler for some long term cruising in my retirement.

A new addition to the Boat Werks is the 1981 Skipper 20 sailboat. This is a rare fiberglass character sailboat which will be undergoing a “pilothouse conversion.”
The goal is to build a proper little motorsailer, a “pocket cruiser” for gunk-holing and tidal adventure.
