This episode I discuss removing and repairing the marine diesel fuel tank from my pocket trawler. This is a great diy boat repair project. After removing the marine diesel engine and all the tanks, the boat fuel tank was the last one to go. The large diesel fuel tank appeared to be in good shape with some minor aluminum pinhole corrosion. It took some effort to remove the fuel tank from my trawler as it was hidden beneath the boat cockpit. Once out of the trawler, I come up with economical do-it-yourself inspection hatches for the fuel tank and restore the fuel tank so it would be ready to put back in my Albin 27 pocket trawler. What was this mysterious substance inside the marine diesel fuel tank? Was it the dreaded marine diesel bug? I put it under a microscope to find out.
